Our Lead Exterior Designer Ian Kettle explains how the design of the new Volvo XC40 came about. At the beginning there were only the words "tough little robot", says Ian. Then he began to sketch and visualize. The result: a powerful, Scandinavian design that underlines the urban character of the new Volvo XC40.

Sweden is a driving force in the music scene and has an amazing amount of influence. That's why every new Volvo XC40 is equipped with a high-quality system for outstanding sound. Among other things, it has an externally ventilated subwoofer, which we have installed behind the dashboard.
