One key, two engines.

The drive technology of the Volvo V90 T8 TWIN ENGINE AWD * combines a 4-cylinder gasoline engine with 223 kW (303 hp), which powers the front wheels, as well as an electric motor with 65 kW (87 hp), which powers the rear wheels. The combination of the two engines can be easily handled via six driving modes - adapted to the driving situation and your individual wishes. The bottom line is a performance that would otherwise require a significantly larger conventional engine.

Hybrid mode

In HYBRID mode, both drive types are used in a complementary way: depending on the driving situation, the electric motor and petrol engine are switched on as required or unfold their power in parallel - for an optimal balance of performance and efficiency with the highest comfort.

PURE mode

When you select the PURE mode, you are fully electric and completely free of emissions - at speeds of up to 125 km/h* and a range of up to 50 km* depending on the model. So you have ample capacity for your everyday rides when the battery is fully charged. When the charge is exhausted, the petrol or diesel engine is automatically switched on.

POWER mode

With the POWER mode, you can enjoy breathtaking driving pleasure at the push of a button. Combustion and electric motors jointly develop their power potential of up to 288 kW (390 hp)* and transfer the concentrated energy to all four wheels. Steering, transmission and brakes are set for sporty driving.

Is the hybrid model of the Volvo V90 more expensive?
The maintenance costs are about as high as the D5 Geartronic model with diesel engine. One of the advantages of the electric motors is their maintenance-free operation.
How far can I drive the batteries in electrical mode?
In electrical operation, you can drive a distance of about 50 km (maximum speed 125 km / h). Depending on driving style, road conditions and outside temperatures (very cold or very warm) the range can vary considerably.
Which workshop can I contact for damage repair to the body?
The removal of the high-voltage battery may be necessary for repairs to the body, which may only be carried out by personnel trained to perform this work in accordance with the applicable regulations. The Volvo contractors meet the above requirements.
Can a breakdown in my vehicle be repaired on site or must it be in a Volvo workshop?
This depends on the nature of the problem, of course. As is also the case with other vehicles, Volvo Assistance also requires that the vehicle be towed into a workshop and not repaired on the road, unless the vehicle is at a standstill is not a technical problem (eg tire rim) or a breakdown (eg missing fuel). How long is the battery life?
With moderate usage the battery's life cycle lasts as long as the vehicle (approximately 15 years). It can be charged up to 9,000 times (complete charging and discharging cycles). The battery also has a 5 year or 150,000 km warranty.
Is the V90 Twin Engine a safe vehicle?
All models, including electrically operated ones, must comply with Volvo's safety standards. The Volvo V90 Twin Engine has impressively demonstrated the highest score ever achieved, which has ever been awarded for safety in an electric car in the context of a Euro NCAP test.
Can the batteries catch fire during an accident?
Volvo's electric vehicles are thoroughly tested. A situation like this has never occurred and can not be expected. The batteries of an electric vehicle do not ignite if they are not subjected to particularly severe impacts.
Are there restrictions on the safety of indoor parking?
No, there is no restriction.
How much does charging the V90 hybrid cost?
Because rates vary according to provider, charging time and kW consumption, it is difficult to determine the exact cost. As a guideline, one could use 0.20 CHF / kWh, which would amount to approx. CHF 1.40 for a distance of 40 km when applied to an V90 Twin Engine.
