Environmentally sound disposal

End-of-life vehicle recycling

End-of-life vehicle recycling

According to the End-of-Life Vehicles Ordinance, all car manufacturers and importers are obliged to take back their end-of-life vehicles free of charge and dispose of them in an environmentally sound manner.

Another requirement of the End-of-Life Vehicles Ordinance is to increase the recycling rate. Today, around 85% of the weight of a new Volvo can already be recycled. In order to achieve even more efficient recycling, it is necessary to consider subsequent dismantling already during the development of vehicles. The labeling of plastics, the development of disassembly manuals and the use of recycled plastics form the basis for more efficient recycling. Volvo Car Corporation is working with its partners to identify areas where recycled plastics can realistically be used or their use expanded.

A competent network of collection points is available in Switzerland for the take-back of end-of-life Volvo vehicles. For further details on the take-back of end-of-life vehicles, please contact Volvo Customer Care (https://www.volvocars.com/de-ch/support/contact-us).

*Vehicles to which, for example, waste has been added or which no longer contain essential parts or components are excluded from free take-back.
